About My Therapeutic Work

Therapy is a place to show up as you are, to share your story, to be witnessed, and sometimes, to be challenged to acknowledge and work through patterns that are no longer serving you.

I believe that, ultimately, you have the answers you need. I think innately, we all do from a young age, but certain life experiences can cause us to become disconnected from the voice that knows. In our work together, I help you draw out that intuitive voice and understand what caused it to become buried in the first place. Together, we look into the past while creating change in the present, working to shift the patterns, beliefs, and ways of relating that may no longer serve you.

I am interactive and conversational in the room, tailoring my approach to you and what you are experiencing. In large part, I work psychodynamically, seeking to understand the full context of what has shaped you in life since early childhood. I also approach therapy relationally, considering both the relationship we have in the room and how you show up in relationships outside of it. I draw from CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and inner child work when useful, and am spiritually open to incorporating tools such as tarot or oracle cards.

About Me

Professional

I graduated from New York University with a B.S. in Communicative Sciences & Disorders, where I studied speech and hearing before pivoting into mental health. I began my work in community mental health as a field-based care coordinator, traveling throughout New York City to meet with clients in their homes. I later graduated from Teachers College, Columbia University with an Ed.M. in Counseling Psychology and an M.A. in Mental Health Counseling. During my graduate training, I completed a clinical externship in college counseling, working with a predominantly first-generation population of undergraduate and graduate students. I then spent three years at a group private practice, before eventually opening my own practice.

Personal

Originally from the North Shore of Massachusetts, I called NYC home for nearly a decade and now live with my husband and daughter in the lower Hudson Valley. I grew up near the ocean and still feel most at home by the water. I’m a serious film and music lover. Some of my earliest memories were made at my family’s video store and I spent much of my childhood performing. My ideal weekend involves a trip to an antique store or flea market, where I’m always on the lookout for a treasure worth bringing home.

All you can do for another person is be an environment in which if they wanted to come up for air, they could.”
